The 180 acres that makes up the Junius Heights Historic District are fife with brick and mortar exemplars of Dallas history - and its annual home tour is always popular because of that. This year’s tour will be held this weekend is no exception ~ Candy’s Dirt
This year’s tour will feature two homes that are on the National Register of Historic Places, a former Hippie Commune, The Church of Junius Heights and a living History Enactment at Swiss Avenue’s Aldridge House at 1 p.m. and 2 p.m with actors in character with vintage costuming showing how life in the early 1900’s might have been. We will also feature the home of Roger McIntosh he so affectionately called “The Shack”. Mr. McIntosh designed some of the most elaborate stained glass windows in North Texas that are still a part of magnificent structures and centerpieces in this city. The 100 year old home is filled with glass design, woodworking tools and glass cutting tools in a workshop that has been beautifully preserved. The Lakewood Library will feature an Arts and Crafts Faire with food and adult beverages.
Tickets are $15 per person at presale locations, Tallulah & Hess and at Buzzbrews ~ Lakewood. Day of prices are $20. This years raffle features a Scat Around 50 cc Scooter from Chicago Scooter Company. Vespa Dallas provided this year’s Grand Raffle Prize.
