Italian Cellist and SMU alumnus Francesco Mastromatteo and wife classical guitarist Noemi Passiatore will perform a Spring concert on May 1 at 6:00 p.m. This is the second of two concerts, with the first, classical guitar by Ms Passiatore, on April 30.

The concert "Oriental Sound Poetry" will be a duo guitar and cello concert by Ms. Passiatore and Mr. Mastromatteo. It will include a world premiere of Lucera negli occchi di un bambino by Eltorre Figliola, and an American premiere of Nel Tuo Sorriso by Joseph Tusiani.

Mr. Mastromatteo is Professor of Chamber Music at the Conservatory "U Giordano" in Foggia, Italy. He completed his Doctoral degree in Cello Performance at the UT-Austin Butler School of Music under Professor Bion Tsang. He also holds an Artist Diploma and a Master's Degree in Performance from SMU where he studied under the tutelage Andres Diaz. Ms.Passiatore is Professor of Classical Guitar at the Liceo Musicale "F. De Sanctuis" in Cervinara, Italy.
