Dallas Love Field Airport Podcast Features Two Authors Discussing Compelling History of Airport on April 12 and May 10

In January 1958, Dallas Love Field’s new terminal building featured the first moving walkway at any airport in the world, and the airport’s art installations and commemorative markers are rich in historical significance. These topics and others will be the theme of “Love Field Stories,” the official podcast of Dallas Love Field, on April 12 and May 10. This fascinating two-part podcast episode’s guests include Bruce Bleakley, aviation historian and co-author of The Love Evolution: A Centennial Celebration of Love Field Airport and Its Art, and Harriet Baskas, creator of the StuckatTheAirport.com blog and author.

“Love Field Stories” podcast is live streamed on Tuesday, April 12 and May 10 at 12:30 p.m. (Central) on Love Field’sFacebook andYouTube. The podcast can be heard onApple Podcast,Spotify,iHeartRadio andPandora.

According to Bleakley, “People may readily associate Dallas Love Field with Southwest Airlines and Presidents John F. Kennedy and Lyndon B. Johnson, but this airport is steeped in much more history and artwork that travelers often don’t know.”

Baskas added, “Dallas Love Field is an airport full of history, stories and hidden treasures. Bruce and I discuss a lot of interesting places in the airport that people may not know exist as well as the artwork that has its own story.”

The guests will discuss the role the airport played with the Kennedy and LBJ years, talk about an ice rink that was at the airport, and discuss why Luigi Flabiano’s inlaid terrazzo world map is worth seeing. Baskas and Bleakley will also discuss Dallas Love Field’s professionally curated art program with 24 pieces of artwork throughout the airport and on the property—many of which the airport has commissioned. A travel expert, Baskas will share some tips and tricks for travelers getting ready to fly this year.
