For Taylor Rodman, recent 2012 Booker T. Washington High School graduate, finding and logging community service hours was daunting before discovering x2VOL, a program from Dallas-area education technology company IntelliVOL. The program, created and run by Ursuline alum and current Preston 
Hollow resident Michele Pitman, not only helped Rodman find and keep track of her local service hours, but it also gave her the extra edge she needed to get in to The Boston Conservatory, where plans to graduate with a BFA in dance by spring 2016.
“Being an active member in Booker T.’s National Honor Society, I was required to have a certain number of community service hours to remain in the club,” Rodman explained. “Initially, I had a hard time finding service opportunities in the Dallas area to fulfill my requirement until Michele Pitman introduced me to her program.”
At first Rodman used IntelliVOL simply as a resource for fulfilling her community service requirements, but she found that the more she used the program, the more she began developing a love and passion for serving.
“I quickly made relationships with people in the Dallas area,” she added. “Service made an equal difference in my life as it did in the community. I am also confident that the connections I have made through serving will better my ability to get a job in the future.”
Michele Pitman, CEO of intelliVOL and creator of x2VOL, has also experienced the impact her program has had on the community as well as her immediate family. “As a [former] VP at a global agency, I not only recognized a gap in myself but in the market for searching and logging volunteer hours,” she recalled of 
the company’s inception. “Since creating x2VOL, our online and mobile tracking and reporting platform for service hours, public and private high schools and districts are using x2VOL nationwide and in Canada.”
“Through this process my family realized the importance of service and giving back and we have been changed forever,” she said. “Our goal is to provide x2VOL to every high school nationwide so that all students can find local service opportunities, positively impact their community, qualify for their first choice college and, most importantly, experience the transformation that happens when you serve others.”
