If you’re looking for something to do this weekend that involves staying indoors where there’s air conditioning, a fun event to check out is the 2011 Lakewood Summer Arts Faire on Saturday, August 27 and Sunday, August 28 at the Lakewood United Methodist Church.

The event begins at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday and 11:00 a.m. on Sunday but a few, select VIPs will actually get a sneak peek tonight at 7:00 p.m. The VIPs will also get a reception and party after the preview.

The 8th annual Summer Arts Faire promises to be treat for the eyes, as there will plenty of up-and-coming artists showcasing their works and interested attendees can purchase a few pieces to display in their own homes. Patrons can also bid in a silent auction for various fine jewelry and fine crafts.

Another goal of the event is to be a family-friendly environment and children can have a great time at the Children’s Art Workshop. The workshop has a fee but it’s covered in the entry fee for children.

And, of course, there will food and drink and live music for entertainment. Aside from an assortment of bands, there will also be a few ballet performances and even a drum circle. This is one cultural event you don’t want to miss out on.

Tickets for admission are relatively inexpensive. Adults and any kids over the age of 12 will have to pay $2 for a ticket while kids ages 4-12 will need to pay $1 for a ticket. Children under the age of four get in for free.
