This Mediterranean style home draws from a rich tradition of Spanish Colonial architecture reminiscent of an old seaside resort. Though built in 2004, this vintage-style home embodies the classic charm of 1920s-era homes found in Lakewood.
The 2011 Lakewood Home Festival - the biggest fundraiser of the year for the schools of Lakewood - is set to get underway on Saturday, November 12 and Sunday, November 13. The event will take attendees through six spectacular homes and provide a great shopping experience with the Lakewood Market & Cafe.
The Lakewood Home Festival began in 1976 when the Lakewood Early Childhood PTA sought to find a way to raise money to buy playground equipment for kindergarten children. The group arranged for a tour of five distinctive and historic neighborhood homes to raise the money and awareness of the Lakewood community.
Since then, the event has evolved and is now the biggest fundraiser for Lakewood Elementary School, J.L. Long Middle School and Woodrow Wilson High School. In the past five years alone, the LECPTA has raised more than $750,000 for the three schools. This year, the event is predicted to generate $140,000 and draw over 4,000 attendees.

The Market and Cafe, which will be located at Lakewood Elementary School, will feature a record number of vendors, including award-winning artists and juried craftspeople. Shoppers will be able to peruse a wide variety of merchandise and maybe get a little of their holiday shopping done. And since shopping always makes a person hungry, the cafe will be offering a tempting menu of items that will please everyone.
Although it's too late to buy some of the more specialized packages, there are still plenty of tickets available to enter the Home Tour. A ticket for the Home Tour and Market/Cafe will cost $10 at certain Tom Thumb locations or can be purchased online for $23. A few other Lakewood stores - White Rock Coffee, the T-Shop, Corner Market and Mockingbird Florist - are also selling tickets for $12. And finally, tickets are also being sold on the day of the event for $15 at any of the homes or at Lakewood Elementary. Tickets for just the Market/Cafe are $5 and can be bought at Lakewood Elementary.
