Breakfast in the Casa Linda neighborhood is about to get much more interesting with the introduction of Hypnotic Donuts to the area in January 2012. Hypnotic Donuts, famed for its exotic donut concoctions, will be opening in east Dallas at 9007 Garland Road.

The new location will be open seven days a week, which is a big upgrade from its current situation. At the moment, Hypnotic Donuts is operating out of The Pizza Guy Restaurant and is open on weekend mornings only. Hypnotic Donuts is certain its new location will be a big success.

“We chose to open our first store in East Dallas close to White Rock Lake because of the friendly neighborhood vibe and the enthusiasm residents have for local business,” said James St. Peter, owner and creative mastermind behind Hypnotic Donuts. “Our store is conveniently located on Garland Road, just south of Casa Linda Plaza and north of the Dallas Arboretum. It’s a convenient stop for those on their way to work looking for a morning pick me up or athletes enjoying White Rock Lake looking to reward themselves with a well-deserved treat.”

Some of their signature donuts include the store’s namesake, the Hypnotic – a chocolate cake donut covered with Hypnotic frosting (chocolate, caramel and peanut butter), topped with pretzels and peanut butter Cap’n Crunch and drizzled with caramel and chocolate. Other donuts include the Mexico, Stef’s Rocky Mountain High and Jenni’s Evil Elvis. You can find the full menu at Hypnotic Donut’s website.

The new location will begin construction on November 1. The store will have a very casual atmosphere where Hyppies – as patrons are known as – can sit at the donut & coffee bar or lounge on chairs and sofas. Hypnotic Donuts strives to recycle as much as possible, so expect lots of reclaimed furniture from resale and charity stores.

Hypnotic Donuts hasn’t opened in East Dallas yet, but is already becoming part of the community. Local artists have been commissioned to paint a mural of well-known hippies to further the “Hyppie” feel. Also, the coffee at Hypnotic Donuts will be supplied by Oak Cliff Coffee Roasters. The locally-owned and award-winning store brews its coffee by the French press method and is dearly beloved by the community.

“As a Dallas-based business, we want to make the community part of our business plan,” St. Peter said. “By carrying Oak Cliff Coffee Roasters coffee, partnering with local artist and decorating with recycled furnishings, we are on the right track to keep business in Dallas and continue to attract locally-owned businesses to the neighborhood.”
