Woodrow Wilson's former principal Ruth Vail resigned abruptly in late June, leaving the school and Dallas ISD scrambling to find a replacement. Now, less than two weeks from the start of school, Woodrow Wilson has announced they have hired a new principal.

DISD and Woodrow Wilson have appointed Russell Kyle Richardson to lead the school. He was formerly the principal for Thomas C. Marsh Middle School, another DISD school located west of the Dallas North Tollway and just south of I-635.
