With chocolate-brown eyes and perky little ears, the brindle little dog is hoping you’ll choose him to be your new best friend, your new confidant, your new… Buddy.

Buddy, an adorable Boston Terrier Mix listed on DFW Rescue Me’s website, is looking for a new home.

And Lakewood business owner Cindy Embrey is hoping you’ll give him one.

Embrey, the owner of Avenue Barket, a market geared towards dogs and cats, is teaming up with DFW Rescue Me and hosting an canine adoption event on Sunday July 24th.  There’ll be plenty of wiggly-little puppies and sweet dogs available for adoption at the event, which takes places at Avenue Barket (located in the M Streets area of Lower Greenville) from 12 to 4p.m.

According to its website, DFW Rescue Me does charge an adoption fee of $200 for dogs and $250 for puppies. Potential owners must also complete an application and DFW Rescue Me will check both vet references and pet deposits (if applicable) to ensure that the animals are going to good homes.

For shop owner Embrey, the event is about more than just drawing potential customers into Avenue Barket.

“I just want to help save dogs, the pounds are overrun, it’s one of the reasons I got into this business, to help the dogs,” Embrey said.
