The Fourth of July is almost upon us and Lakewood residents have plenty to do, including their annual parade. This year's parade is titled 'Lakewood Loves the Lake 4th of July Parade' and is a parae for kids of all ages. Prior to the parade is the Lakewood 4th of July Fun Run, which will take participants along the same route the parade will later take.
Runners that want more of a challenge can take part in the Flagpole 8K, which will take place around White Rock Lake. And finally, residents of Little Forest Hills have their own parade planned.

PARK CITIES
2011 Fourth of July Parade and Festival: Starting from Euclid Avenue near the Highland Park Town Hall, participants will line up at 7:30 a.m. The parade will begin at 9:00 a.m., ending at Goar Park where it will culminate in a family festival featuring music, food booths and plenty of entertainment for children of all ages. The festival starts around 9:30 a.m. and there is no admission charge.
Firecracker Fun Run: Celebrate our nation’s birthday by running or walking in the University Park Firecracker Fun Run! Open to all ages and skill levels, the race starts at 7:30 a.m. at Curtis Park. Leaving the park, race participants will head south on Dickens and wind through several University Park neighborhoods before crossing the finish line back at Curtis Park.
LAKEWOOD
Flagpole 8K: Celebrate our country's birthday with this annual run along the eastern shores of White Rock Lake and the peninsula neighborhood. The 8K course will start at Norbuck Park at 7:30 a.m.
Lakewood 4th of July Fun Run: Help warm up the Parade Route by running in the annual Lakewood Mini-Marathon Run starting at 8:00 a.m.
Lakewood loves the Lake 4th of July Parade: This is designed to be a 'neighborhood parade for kids of all ages.' There will be refreshments, music and awards after the parade.
Little Forest Hills 4th of July: Parade participants are encouraged to decorate their bikes and floats with flags and our country's colors (red, white & blue). The parade will begin at 9:00 a.m.; Line up starts at 8:30 a.m.
COPPELL
Spirit of Coppell July 4th Parade: Hop up on Monday morning, put on your favorite red, white and blue garb and head over to the parade! The parade kicks off at 10 a.m. at the corner of Samuel and Parkway Blvd., where it will proceed on Parkway to Town Center Plaza. LAKE HIGHLANDS
4th of July Parade and Carnival: The Exchange Club of Lake Highlands is holding annual 4th of July Parade and Carnival. The parade will begins at North Highlands Bible Church and finish at Lake Highlands North Recreation Center. Following the parade, a carnival will be held at the recreation center park. There will be awards, entertainment, food, carnival games and prizes.

Fair Park Fourth: Snap, crackle, pop! Don’t miss Dr. Pepper Snapple Group FAIR PARK FOURTH from 4:30 to 10 p.m. July 4, at historic Fair Park, which is located at 1300 Robert B. Cullum Blvd. Presented by Friends of Fair Park (fairpark.org), the family-fun event serves as the City of Dallas’ official Independence Day celebration.
PRESTON HOLLOW
HFNA 4th of July Parade: Don't miss the Hillcrest Forest Neighborhood Association (HFNA) 4th of July Parade! Bring your kids, vintage cars, convertibles, Jeeps, motor scooters, bicycles, tricycles, pets, strollers, little red wagons, friends, and in-laws. The event begins at 10 a.m. at Kramer Elementary School, which is located at 7131 Midbury Road.
