The downpour of rain that lasted all last weekend was a welcome relief for an area that has been hit hard by drought. However, the rain has also brought cold weather to the area, leaving residents scrambling for their heaters and winter coats. Meanwhile, For the Love of the Lake is trying to gather help to volunteer for the Second Saturday Shoreline Spruce-Up to help clean up the trash brought by the rain.

Volunteers should meet at Casa Linda Plaza, home of the For the Love of the Lake office, at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 10. All cleaning supplies - trash/recycling bags, reach-it tools and gloves - will be provided by FTLOTL but it is highly recommended that volunteers bundle themselves up well to fight off the cold. The wind will be blowing even harder near the lake and early weather forecast has a high of 50 degrees and a low of 33 degrees.

FTLOTL will be providing breakfast in the form of Starbucks coffee, orange juice and chocolate milk from Schepps Dairy. Another Broken Egg Cafe will be bringing the food and volunteers will be well stocked with refreshing Rain Fresh bottled water.

White Rock Lake is one of the jewels of the city of Dallas. Help For the Love of the Lake keep it that way by volunteering every month in the Second Saturday Shoreline Spruce-Up.
