Middle School Team Advances to State
The Middle School Debate Team participated in the YMCA District 5 Youth and Government conference, along with more than 200 other middle school students from across the Metroplex.

Seventeen members of the 18-member team attended the District tournament in Sachse on December 6. Only one of the 17 members had prior debate experience. Everyone had an opportunity to present their bills in committee, with the majority of the bills passing. "This is an amazing accomplishment," said Debate Team sponsor Paula Gillman. "In addition to successful bill presentation, the students represented Lakehill with amazing professionalism and decorum."

The team will next be heading to the YMCA State Youth and Government conference, February 27-March 1, at the State Capitol in Austin.
