The Lakehill Preparatory School Varsity Football team has made school history this year, and is now just one win away from a state title.

With a 52-6 semifinal victory over Giddings in the Semi-Finals on November 29, the Warriors are on their way to the TAPPS Six-Man Division I State Championship on Thursday.

The undefeated Lakehill Warriors (12-0) will take on the Emery/Weiner Jaguars (11-1) on December 5, at 7:00 p.m. at Midway ISD’s Panther Stadium in Hewitt.

Lakehill defeated Lucas Christian Academy on November 22, in the second round of the State Playoffs to claim the Regional Championship. The offense had one of its best games of the year, scoring 66 points on just 16 plays of offense. The defense also contributed, scoring 21 points.

The Warriors followed with a 52-6 Semifinal win on November 29, over Giddings State School. A strong running game and great blocking from the offensive line was the key to victory. Lakehill's defense once again performed as one of the better teams in the state, holding a Giddings team that averaged 40 points a game to a season low of six.

Lakehill hosted a pep rally on Thursday and will have a send-off for the team on Thursday afternoon, as the Warriors aim for a state football championship. "We understand the importance of this moment," said Head Coach Jairus Mitchell. "These boys have been working hard all year. This is exactly where they wanted to be."

Thursday’s game is available on live stream at tapps.biz/tappstv.
