On April 1, Visual Arts Chair Scott Boles took 21 selected works of art created by Lakehill Preparatory School visual art students in his drawing, painting, computer graphics, and sculpture classes and Cat Huitt's ceramics and fiber arts classes to Waco, Texas for the 2019 TAPPS State Art Championship competition.  
 
After advancing to the final round, senior Julia Bartholow was recognized with a bronze medal for her Senior Art Portfolio. She has been working on her portfolio over the past year in her AP Studio Art class.
 
Sophomore Cytheria Luo was recognized as a State Champion, receiving the gold medal in the Drawing - Color category for her self-portrait. Luo also received an 8th place in the same category.
 
Other notable finishes include the following:
Gary Hou, 7th place, Drawing - Black and White
Zak Goldstein, Honorable Mention, Drawing - Color
Ender Trout, Honorable Mention, Communication Design
Georgia Ferguson, Honorable Mention, Painting
