Lakehill Advances to Regional Semi-Finals, Set New School Record

The Lakehill Preparatory School Varsity Volleyball team concluded their historic season this past weekend at the regional final-four. The girls took care of Plainview Christian in straight sets (25-21; 25-18; 25-13) in the Regional Semi-finals on Friday, October 31. Abi Price led all hitters with 17 kills while Sam Caldwell, Kelly Werther and Claire Crow each contributed six kills. The win set up a match against Waco Live Oak on Saturday, November 1. The girls fought hard and never gave up, but unfortunately fell short to the Falcons. Price led all hitters with eleven kills and Jordan Johnson contributed seven of her own. Caldwell and Haley York each had 12 digs against a hard-hitting Live Oak team.

The team finished the season 26-4, which is the best record in Lakehill history and included a 20-match winning streak. This was also the first volleyball team in school history to finish district season undefeated and the first to make it to the regional playoffs since 2004.

“I feel like the luckiest coach in the world to have had the opportunity to work with these girls day in and day out,” said Coach Jhoana Cayme-Mosley. “I can't say enough about my captains - Sam, Jana and Kelly. They have gone above and beyond their roles as captains and I couldn't have asked for better leadership. We finished in the top eight in the state, but I would have put this team on the court with anyone. The numbers and statistics speak for themselves, but the greatest thing about this team can't be measured with numbers. They played hard, they played smart and they played together. As a coach, there's nothing more you could ask for.”
