On April 4, Visual Arts Chair Scott Boles took 23 selected works of art created by Lakehill students in his drawing, painting, and sculpture classes, work from Cat Huitt's ceramics, weaving, and printmaking classes, and Sacha Troxler's yearbook cover to Waco, Texas, for the 2016 TAPPS State Art Championship competition.

Competing against 29 other Division 2A schools from the state of Texas, nine Lakehill students placed high enough to accumulate 80 points and claim the Runner-up title of the State Championship. Lakehill students won 18 medals in the eight categories they entered. This number is even more impressive considering they were competing against a total of 619 entries in the categories they entered.

"This is the most medals won by the greatest number of Lakehill students ever at State," said Boles. "Since we have added more Upper School art electives like weaving, ceramics, and printmaking, taught by Ms. Huitt, we can enter more categories in the state competition. This has made us more competitive with other 2A schools."
