State of the Arts: Lakehill Senior Wins Individual State Title, School is State Runner-up

On April 3, Visual Arts Chair Scott Boles took 22 selected works of art created by Lakehill Preparatory School visual art students in his drawing, painting, computer graphics, and sculpture classes and Cat Huitt's ceramics and weaving classes to Waco, Texas for the 2017 TAPPS State Art Championship competition.  
 
Sophia Liu won overall Individual State Champion with the most points by a competitor with 68 points. Liu also garnered a first place gold medal in each of the following categories: senior portfolio, drawing black and white, drawing color, communication design, 2D mixed media, and painting (first and second place).
 
Competing against 18 other Division 3A schools from the state of Texas, seven Lakehill students placed high enough to accumulate 87 points and earn the State Championship Runner-up title.  
 
Lakehill students won eight medals an d six ribbons in the seven categories they entered. They competed against a total of 327 entries for all the categories they were in.
