The walking tour allowed the group to see a residence hall, the music school, the health and services center, as well as the activities center. When the tour was finished, the students were treated to buffet-style lunch in the university dining hall where they dined among the college students.
Following the informational presentation, eighth graders got to experience the social side of UNT, enjoying ice cream and shopping in Denton Square. "For many of the students, it's the first time they have ever been on a college campus," says Dondis. "The best part is hearing the students ask questions and get involved during the tour because it allows me to get to know what they are looking for in a college."
When asked about the best part of the trip, Haley Lopez responded, "Going into the dorm rooms and seeing how they are situated, so I know what I am going to have to live in for four years." Ella Witherite answered, "The coolest thing I experienced was just how big the campus was and how different it was from regular school."
