Service Partners: Lakehill Hosts First Volunteer Fair

On September 23, Upper School students attended Lakehill Preparatory School's first Volunteer Fair during open period, in the auditorium. Students were able to meet with twelve different charitable organizations, learning more about their missions and the volunteer opportunities available.

Participants were Austin Street Centre, Brother Bill's Helping Hand, Community Partners of Dallas, Crossroads Community Services, Dolphin Heights Neighborhood Association, Hope Supply Company, Interfaith Family Services, Juliette Fowler Homes, Meals on Wheels, Reading Partners, SPCA, and the Wilkinson Center. "It was great to see all of the local opportunities to reach out and help people," said senior McKinney Waggoner. "I found some new organizations and ways to get involved."

The Volunteer Fair was organized by Marketing Intern Nia Rasheed, Lakehill Class of 2011. "I enjoyed seeing the students interact with our service partners," said Rasheed. "Based on the feedback from this year's Volunteer Fair, I think it will become an annual event."
