Mayor Mike Rawlings and Lakehill fourth grader Hannah Ostermayer help kick off the Fill the Boot Campaign at Fire Station #17.
The Dallas Fire Fighters Association kicked off the annual Fill the Boot campaign for MDA on Mondayafternoon at Dallas Fire Station #17. Station 17 has consistently collected more money for MDA during the annual drive than any other station in Dallas. Two special guests, Dallas Mayor Mike Rawlings and Lakehill fourth grader Hannah Ostermayer, were on hand to help lead the festivities.

Hannah, an MDA Ambassador, presented a check for $1230 on behalf of Lakehill Preparatory School. Students in the Lower and Middle School Community Connections Clubs raised the money during their Fill the Boot pizza and lemonade sale last month.

Dallas Firefighters will be on the streets of Dallas April 30, May 1, and May 2, filling their boots for MDA. This year's effort will mark the 60 year anniversary of the relationship between the Muscular Dystrophy Association and Firefighters, which began in 1954.

Funds raised in the 2014 effort will go toward a variety of Muscular Dystrophy Association programs, including worldwide research, specialized healthcare services, and sending children to an MDA summer camp.
