Kidd Springs 5K Event to Benefit OC Children, Will Feature Mardi Gras Festival & Beer Garden
Dec. 9, 2015 -- Dallas, Texas -- The 7th annual DASH FOR THE BEADS (DASH) hits the pavement on Saturday, February 6, at 9:30am with a 5K Chip-Timed Fun Run/1-Mile Walk/Costume Contest/Family & Pet Friendly Mardi Gras Festival and Beer Garden with live music. All activities will occur at Kidd Springs Park, located in North Oak Cliff at 711 W. Canty St., Dallas, TX 75208.
Early-bird online registration pricing is $30 through Dec. 31 at http://www.dashforthebeads.org. Monetary donations from those not able to participate will also be accepted.
The DASH initiative was founded in 2009 by “Cliff Dwellers” Chad West and David Sassano as a way to raise money for Oak Cliff organizations. In 2015, there were 2,500 participants raising $22,000 to benefit education, health, fitness and wellness programs for children in Oak Cliff.
The USATF certified race route will begin and end near 818 Canty Street along Kidd Springs Park. The route in North Oak Cliff borders West Greenbriar Lane, Junior Drive, Eastus Drive, Shady Lane and Cedar Hill Avenue (a map is attached). Prizes will be awarded for the best-dressed walkers and runners and for the winners of the chip-timed 5K run.
