About Greenland Hills History:

In 1923 brothers Frank and Fletcher McNeny bought, platted and subdivided 98 acres of the Bennett farm creating the Greenland Hills development. Unlike the surrounding Belmont and Vickery Place neighborhoods, Greenland Hills was planned and developed all at once. Greenland Hills, commonly known now as the M Streets, represented a conscious attempt to create a quality residential development on the fringe of Dallas. Built on rolling hills, this plan incorporated strict architectural guidelines and well-conceived landscaping. Iconic features of the original neighborhood design include “waterfall steps,” tree-lined streets and vintage lamp posts. Today, the neighborhood is considered to be preserving the largest Tudor Revival collection in Texas and North America. Other architectural styles originally built in Greenland Hills include Craftsman and Spanish Eclectic. The Greenland Hills neighborhood is the 9th Conservation District of the City of Dallas.

Greenland Hills neighborhood is bounded on the west by N. Central Expressway, on the south by Vanderbilt Ave, on the east by Greenville Ave, and on the north by McCommas.

The Greenland Hills Neighborhood Association, established in 1983, is registered as a 501c4 with its main mission to promote the social welfare of the Greenland Hills neighborhood. Dependent solely on volunteer participation, the GHNA works towards maintaining an active and safe neighborhood through its activities including connecting residents to the services provided by the City of Dallas and hosting community-building events that appeal to a variety of ages and interests.
