DUC Women's Light Weight 8+ State Champions

Dallas United Crew (DUC) high school rowing team raced in the Texas Rowing Championships last weekend in Austin, Texas. The 1000-meter event features a seven-lane, fully buoyed race course on Lady Bird Lake and takes place at Festival Beach Park. Great spring weather greeted the team as they competed in their races. DUC athletes have been preparing for the state championships all season and this weekend their hard work paid off.  DUC brought home 70 medals from 10 DUC boats representing athletes from 10 high schools across the Metroplex – Highland Park, Bishop Lynch, Woodrow Wilson, Byran Adams, Science & Engineering Magnet, Shelton, Frisco High School, Hockaday, Ursuline, and Parish. Congratulations to all of the rowers and coxswains.

“Dallas United crews have demonstrated strength and leadership in their efforts so far this season and proudly represented the city of Dallas in the Texas Rowing Championships,” said Randy Dam, Dallas United Varsity Men’s Head Coach. DUC crews are preparing for the final race of the season, the Central Region Youth Championships, to be held May 6-7 in Oklahoma City. “If our teams continue to demonstrate the same level of maturity and train as they have been, we are poised for a great showing at the Central Regional competition next month to defend our 2016 Regional Championship titles,” said Rebecca George, Dallas United Varsity Women’s Head Coach.
