Congratulations to the Bishop Lynch Lady Friar Volleyball team for winning their THIRD consecutive TAPPS 5A State Championship this past weekend, defeating cross-town rivals Ursuline Academy in four sets!

The Time Warner Players of the game were seniors Sofia Schleppenbach and Haley Puddy who both led the team on offense. Setters senior Morgan Reed and sophomore Callie Williams distributed the ball meticulously to the dominating offense, and proved to be power-houses behind the serving line as well.  On the back row, juniors Danielle Nevitt and Francesca Goncalves played a solid passing game, and led the Lady Friars in digs. In the Friday semi-final match, the Lady Friars beat Antonian Prep in three convincing straight sets and freshman Madi Tyus led the offensive attack.

Four Lady Friars were selected for the State All-Tournament team: seniors Haley Puddy and Morgan Reed and juniors Catherine Balido and Francesca Goncalves.

The sheer drive and determination this team displayed throughout the season was truly unique, and something most teams strive for! Some credit the “cone of positivity” which escorted the team throughout the season, but who can truly be sure!!

Bishop Lynch High School congratulates our incredible student-athletes, coaches, parents and fans, and we look forward to next year when the Lady Friars set their sights on a “4-peat!”
