Curtis, MacKay named top scholar athletes by NSCAA

Lady Friar soccer standouts Katelyn Curtis and Mica MacKay have graduated and are now preparing for their collegiate careers, but the two are still receiving praise for their achievements as seniors at Bishop Lynch High School.

Curtis and MacKay were both recently recognized by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) as members of the 2016 NSCAA High School Scholar All-America Team, highlighting their achievements not only on the pitch, but in the classroom as well.

Letters awarded to both Curtis and MacKay congratulated the two on "being named one of the nation's best on the field and in the classroom" during the 2015-16 school year.

Both former Lady Friars have been invited to the NSCAA All-America Luncheon to be held in January, where they will be recognized for their honor.

Both Curtis and MacKay were named 1st Team All-State performers during the most recent season, during which the Lady Friars advanced to the state title match. They were also members of the 2015 state championship team.

Curtis will be attending Rhodes College and MacKay will attend Jacksonville University, where they will compete in soccer on athletic scholarships.
