Jermaine Mask had to fill the biggest void left by graduation after the 2014 football season, and the junior running back did just that, with a season that included almost 1,300 yards and 14 rushing touchdowns.

Jermaine's accomplishments during the 2015 season earned him first team honors on the TAPPS 1-5A All-District Team, as well as the TAPPS 5A All-State Team. Mask was the only Friar to receive all-state recognition and a first team all-district selection.

The Friars finished the season with a 4-7 record and appearance in the playoffs, where they fell to Houston's St. Pius X.

Mask led the offense with 1,275 yards and a 5.8 average per carry. He had two games with four rushing touchdowns.

Five from Bishop Lynch were chosen for the All-District 2nd Team, including juniors Malex Fuget and Michael Menditto, two standouts on the defensive line. Each had more than 30 tackles and several quarterback sacks or hurries.

Seniors Ini AkpabotAndrew Kelly and Drayton Delaney were also 2nd Team picks. Akpabot had a team-high four interceptions as a defensive back, Delaney led the team with 25 receptions and Kelly anchored an offensive line that paved the way for the Friars to score 34 points and gain 405 yards per game.

Senior Thomas Hennen was also recognized for his work on the line, which opened holes for a pair of 1,000-yard rushers — Mask and senior QB Tristan Smith. Hennen, along with Ephesian BrownDavis Peck and Akpabot (as an athlete), received honorable mention.

Peck, a sophomore, led the team with 66 tackles and caused three fumbles. Akpabot had a 104-yard kickoff return for a touchdown on special teams.

The top honor in the district went to Prestonwood Christian quarterback Ryan Cash, who was named Most Valuable Player and led the Lions to the 2015 state championship.
