Most of the Bishop Lynch basketball teams will be closing the book on 2015 traveling to holiday tournaments around the Metroplex.

The varsity Lady Friars and Friars, along with the junior varsity and freshman boys, will head to Duncanville, Carrollton, Allen and Lucas, respectively, for some competition during the holiday break.

The biggest of the four tournaments will undoubtedly be the 65th Annual Sandra Meadows Classic, taking place Dec. 28-30 in Duncanville. The Lady Friars will join 31 other teams from around the nation in the premiere tournament for girls’ high school hoops.

The stacked field includes four defending state champions, the 2014 tournament champion, as well as Duncanville’s Lady Panthers, one of the top teams in the nation.

Blackman High School won a state title in Tennessee last season, Fayetteville High School won the Arkansas state championship and McEachern was a state champion in Georgia. The field also includes last year’s TAPPS 5A state champions from Liberty Christian, as well as defending tournament champion, Conway (AR) High School.

The tournament will take place on three courts inside Sandra Meadows Memorial Arena, located on the Duncanville High School campus, 900 W. Camp Wisdom Rd.

Bishop Lynch will open at 9 a.m. Monday (Dec. 28) against Highland Park, then play either Duncanville or Lakeview Centennial at either 4:30 or 7:30 p.m.

BL will take on Concordia Lutheran on Dec. 31 at 8:30 a.m.

Other teams in the tournament include TC-Cedar Hill and Home School Athletic Association (HSAA). The Friars finished second at the tournament last year, but took the top spot when the tournament champion forfeited their final game.
