The 2016 powerlifting season officially came to a close Saturday in Corpus Christi, where three Lady Friars competed in the Girls State Championships.

Hannah Eboagu followed her regional championship by finishing fourth at the state meet after qualifying with the seventh best.

Eboagu exceeded her regional co-record of 155 pounds in the bench press with a lift of 165 pounds. She also beat her regional record of 345 pounds on the dead lift with a lift of 350.

Her totals were 300 (squat), 165 (bench) and 350 (dead lift) for a total of 815.

Jasmine Ruvalcaba had a Top 10 finish, placing seventh after having qualified with the 11th best total. Ruvalcaba set personal records in the bench press (185), dead lift (350) and overall total (835). She also lifted 300 in the squat.

Mie Somiari had a Top 10 finish, placing ninth after qualifying with the 16th best total. Somiari had an outstanding meet with four personal records.

She reached new personal bests with lifts of 320 (squat), 145 (bench), 370 (dead lift) and overall total (835).
