Jack Baker tossed a complete game shutout and Gabe Vasquez went yard, propelling the Friars to a 6-0 home win over Bishop Dunne that not only ended a nine-game losing streak, but gave BL a much-needed district win.
Baker allowed just two hits in seven innings of work and Vasquez teamed with Ian Landry to give the Friars (8-20, 1-8) an offensive spark and their first win since March 11.
Landry recorded a pair of hits, including a double and drove in a run.
The Friars will travel to Dunne on Friday to complete the home-and-home series against the Falcons, with an early first pitch scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
