A large group of Bishop Lynch athletes will head to Waco later this week with visions of gold medals when they compete in the 2016 TAPPS Track and Field Championships on May 6-7 at the Hart-Patterson Sports Complex.

Day 1 will consist of field events beginning at 11 a.m. and the 3200-meter final is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. Day 2 will begin at 9 a.m. with running events, beginning with the 400-meter relay and ending with the 1600-meter relay.

Live coverage of the meet will be carried by the NFHS Network on both days at www.nfhsnetwork.com. A subscription is required for viewing. Results will be updated after each event on the TAPPS website, www.tapps.biz.

The Friars turned in an outstanding performance at the regional meet in late-April, during which the following athletes from BL qualified for the state meet:

• Jaida Thomas – Long Jump, 400 relay, 400 meters, 1600 relay

• Emma Williams – Long Jump, 400 relay, 800 relay

• Cindy Ogunedo – Shot Put

• Jermaine Mask – Triple Jump

• Reagan Potts – 400 relay

• Kristen Phoenix – 400 relay

• Katy Steele – 800 meters, 1600 relay

• Miguel Jasso – 800 meters

• Jessica Taylor – 800 relay, 1600 relay

• Chasady Johnson – 800 relay, 200 meters

• Michael West – 800 relay, 1600 relay

• Jacob Lewis – 800 relay

• Tristan Smith – 800 relay

• Jake Younger – 800 relay, 1600 relay
