Three Lady Friars qualified for the state powerlifting competition at Thursday's regional meet in Princeton, while one of those put her name in the record books on the way to capturing a regional title.

The Lady Friars finished eighth as a team out of 19 teams, but Hannah Eboagu was definitely the star of the show, capturing the regional title in her weight class and also being named Outstanding Overall Lifter on the light platform.

In addition to those honors, Eboagu is now the regional record-holder in the dead lift (345 lbs.) and for total lift (820 lbs.) while tying the regional mark in the bench press (155 lbs.).

She will be joined at the state meet by Mie Somiari and Jasmine Ruvalcaba, each of whom will enter ranked at the top of their 6A weight class.

Somiari placed fifth at regionals, Ruvalcaba was seventh and Franny Farlow also finished seventh.

The state meet will be held in Corpus Christi on Friday, March 18.
