Both track and field teams from Bishop Lynch raced to fifth-place team finishes Saturday at the Ben Robertson Relays, held at Mesquite ISD's Hanby Stadium.

The men compiled 62 points, finishing just a handful of points behind fourth-place North Mesquite (65.98) and third-place Rowlett (67.97). Mesquite Horn (96.49) and Sachse (71.46) took the top two spots, respectively.

The women earned a team total of 45 points, finishing only behind Sachse (101), Rowlett (81.99), North Mesquite (62) and Lakeview Centennial (60).

On the men's side, Gage Tipton earned a gold medal in the high jump with a height of 6-02, while Joshua Erdmann was fourth at 5-08.

The men's distance medley relay team was third, while the sprint medley relay team of Trey Thomas, Michael West, Alex Lara and Miguel Jasso finished fourth. The 3200-meter relay team of Jared Cogswell, Joseph McDonald, Efrain Rojas and Jasso also finished fourth.

In the women's competition, the sprint medley relay team of Mie Somiari, Halle Tafoya, Chasady Johnson and Kaitlyn Steele earned a silver medal, clocking a time of 4:32.46.

The 1600-meter relay team of Somiari, Johnson, Emma Williams and Margaret Gannon finished fourth.

Somiari earned bronze in the long jump with her distance of 16-05.50, Grace Turner cleared six feet in the pole vault to win bronze and Amarachie Anozie went a total of 34-07.25 to capture bronze in the triple jump.

Brianna Kipp finished fourth in the high jump.
