The Lady Friars scored early and often Tuesday, handing a hefty loss to Houston's Awty International School in the TAPPS Division I Area playoff round.

Bishop Lynch (17-4-1) won their eighth straight match, finding the net five times in each half for a 10-0 shutout of the visiting Rams at Roffino Stadium.

The defending state champions advance to the regional playoff round to take on Houston's St. Agnes (18-4-0), which topped Liberty Christian 2-0 in an area match Tuesday. BL and St. Agnes will face each other at 2 p.m. Friday at Sam Houston State University.

University of Texas signee Atu Mshana registered a hat trick and got the match going with an unassisted goal just 3:15 into the first half. Katelyn Curtis followed a few minutes later with a rocket from 30 yards out for a 2-0 lead.

Mshana added her second goal off a helper from Anna Schrader less than two minutes after Curtis' score, and Anisa Lopez made it 4-0 off an assist from Curtis. Aly Simpkinsfinished off the first half scoring, converting a pass from freshman Alexis Sanders.

In the second half, BL put together another burst, scoring five more goals in a 20-minute window. Kaky Kuby scored at the 37:20 mark, Christina Stack found the net at 31:25 and the Curtis-to-Mshana combination struck again at 27:45 for an 8-0 lead.

Unassisted goals by Shannon Chester (19:55) and Katie Gittemeier (17:02) rounded out the scoring.

Mica MacKayAlicia Isaac and Madison White teamed with Kuby to earn a clean sheet in goal.
