The Bishop Lynch High School athletic department officially announced Monday it has partnered with Sportsgram Internet Sports Network to broadcast/stream Friar athletic events online during the 2015-2016 school year.

The agreement includes a 20-game schedule, including nine football games and 11 others from volleyball, basketball, baseball and softball. Post-season contests will be added to the broadcast schedule as they are announced.

Cliff Gibson, sports information director for Bishop Lynch High School, said this agreement puts the athletic department on a new level.

“With the quality of athletics we have here at Bishop Lynch, there’s no reason why we should not be able to offer our fans a way to see the games even if they can’t make it in person,” he said. “Our alumni stretch from coast to coast, and partnering with Sportsgram allows our teams to play in front of a national audience. A top-notch athletic department deserves a top-notch digital platform and Sportsgram gives us that.”

Each online event will be accessible via computer, tablet or smartphone, and will include high quality audio and video. The broadcast team will be made up of BLHS students, with direction from Gibson, who will serve as the official play-by-play voice for the Friars on Sportsgram.

“Our vision is to make this a student-driven project and give our talented students yet another avenue to flourish,” Gibson said. “We will be putting out a call for potential broadcast team members very soon. Football season will be here before you know it.”

Sportsgram partner and owner Steve Glenn said he is mutually excited about the pairing for the new school year.

“The Sportsgram Network is very excited about our new partnership with Bishop Lynch High School,” Glenn said. “We are looking forward to broadcasting a lot of wins and exciting games for the coaches, players, families and Friar fans.”

This new avenue also creates a unique opportunity for fans and alumni of Bishop Lynch athletics to show their support — through advertising.

“We will be looking for businesses and supporters to serve as sponsors for our broadcasts, and also give people a chance to be mentioned on the air during games,” Gibson said. “It’s a big marketing victory for us and a great opportunity for local businesses to get noticed, too.”
