Bishop Lynch High School

Almost 20 track and field athletes from Bishop Lynch qualified last week during the regional meet in Argyle for a spot in this weekend’s 2015 TAPPS Track and Field Championships in Waco.

The Friars finished sixth in the team standings in Argyle last Friday, while the Lady Friars came in fifth. Each team will send several athletes to the two-day event at the Hart-Patterson Sports Complex, with field events scheduled for Friday, May 8 and running events taking place Saturday, May 9.

The state qualifiers from BL are as follows:

MEN

• Kameron Brooks — 800 meters (2nd)

• Gage Tipton — high jump (regional champion)

• 800-meter relay team — Gabe Brace, Tristan Smith, Alex Lara and Nahum Ferretiz (2nd)

• Paul Hellinghausen — 110 hurdles (5th)

• 400-meter relay team — Rawleigh Williams, Alex Lara, Gabe Brace and Nahum Ferretiz (5th)

• 1600-meter relay team — Alex Lara, Nahum Ferretiz, Nick Martinez and Kameron Brooks (4th)

WOMEN

• Kaitlyn Steele — 800 meters (3rd)

• Amarachie Anozie — triple jump (2nd)

• Mie Somiari — long jump (5th)

• Bri Kipp — high jump (2nd)

• Jessica Taylor — 300 hurdles (5th)

• 400-meter relay team — Claire Williams, Reagan Potts, Hannah Eboagu and Julianna Garza (5th)

• 800-meter relay team — Claire Williams, Kaitlyn Steele, Jessica Taylor and Julianna Garza (2nd)

• 1600-meter relay team — Claire Williams, Kaitlyn Steele, Jessica Taylor and Julianna Garza (2nd)
