Lady Friars XC takes overall team title

Bishop Lynch cross country teams were on their game Saturday, taking home one team title and a Top 4 finish during the Garey Horner Invitational in Dallas.

The Lady Friars finished first overall in the team standings, followed by Bishop Dunne and Trinity Christian Academy.

Freshman Ava Peeples (12:18.06) won the women’s race, finishing almost 40 seconds in front of the next competitor. Kaitlyn Steele finished third with a time of 13:19.70 and Kelli Koch was seventh at 13:51.12, rounding out the BL runners in the Top 10.

Caroline Savage (23^rd), Victoria Villareal (33^rd), Sophia Duarte (36^th) and Elise Bobowski (50^th) all finished in the Top 50. Parker Stowers was 61^st and Riley Stowers finished 67^th.

TCA won the men’s team title, while Bishop Lynch finished fourth in the overall standings.

Senior Jared Cogswell paced the men’s team, finishing 11^th with a time of 18:01.66, followed by Ryan Sheaffer in 12^th with a time of 18:20.28. Joseph McDonald (19^th) also finished in the Top 20.

Lucas Herrmann (22^nd), Eric Bellinghausen (32^nd) and Patrick Kersey (49^th) made the Top 50. Andres Cano finished 54^th and Killian Baker was 56^th.

The teams will compete again Saturday morning at the Lions Den Invitational, hosted by Ennis High School at Jaycee Park.
