The BL AquaFriars traveled to Frisco for their first road meet this year on Tuesday to face Frisco Liberty and Frisco High.

The Lady Friars defeated Frisco Liberty 159-72, but fell to a very talented Frisco team 168-89. 

The Lady Friars were led by senior captain Jessica Jordan, who finished second in the 100-yard breaststroke and third in the 200-yard individual medley, and by freshman Ailish Tierney, who finished second in the 100-backstroke and third in the 500-yard freestyle. 

Other performances of note were by:

• Senior Shauna Seidel, who finished third in both the 100-yard butterfly and 50-yard freestyle;

• Junior Niamh Tierney, who finished third in the 100-yard freestyle and fourth in the 200-yard individual medley; and

• Senior Jordan Carl, who finished fourth in both the 100-yard breaststroke and 500-yard freestyle

The team of Niamh Tierney, Seidel, Jordan and junior Jesseca Hageman combined to finish second in the 200-yard freestyle relay. Ailish Tierney, Carl, Seidel and Jordan joined to finish second in the 200-yard medley relay, while Carl and Hageman grouped with Ailish and Niamh Tierney to finish second in the 400-yard freestyle relay.

The Friar Men had several very good performances, but finished third in the meet. The Friars were led by junior Will Eckles, who finished second in the 500-yard freestyle and third in the 50-yard freestyle, and by junior captain Eric Bray, who finished third in the 500-yard freestyle. 

Several other Friar men recorded personal best times, including:

• Freshman Josh Ponewash in the 200- and 100-yard freestyle races;

• Junior Sean O'Hare in the 200-yard freestyle;

• Junior Will Seidel in the 200 freestyle and 100 butterfly;

• Sophomore George Smith in the 100-yard butterfly

Eckles and Smith were joined by freshman Joe Weber and sophomore Killian Baker to finish fifth in the 200-yard medley relay, while Eckles, Seidel and O'Hare combined with junior AJ Armenta to finish fourth in the 400-yard freestyle relay.

The Friars will next be in action versus John Paul II and Nolan Catholic on Oct. 24 at the Knights of Columbus pool. The meet begins at 1 p.m.
