The Bishop Lynch Lady Friars will take a stroll down the Riverwalk next weekend, after punching their ticket to the TAPPS State Volleyball Tournament on Nov. 13-14.

The Lady Friars (36-8) swept district rival TCA-Addison on Thursday night to advance past the regional round and into the final four, which will be set after the completion of Saturday's other regional playoff matches.

Bishop Lynch set its course for state to pursue a fourth consecutive state title after putting TCA away rather easily in last night's match at J.J. Pearce High School in Richardson. The Lady Friars took the match with scores of 25-18, 25-17 and 25-17. It was the third time BL swept the Lady Trojans this season.

The Lady Friars used a 10-point run to set up a win in the opening set and had similar runs midway through the second and third sets to close the book on TCA.

Cat Balido led the attack with 13 kills and two blocks while Callie Williams set up teammates on 25 assists. Madi Tyus tallied nine digs and eight kills, Francesca Goncalves had eight kills and Bri Kipp added seven.

Danielle Nevitt logged a team-high 12 digs and Melanie Heigele added nine assists in the match.

The Lady Friars tuned up for that playoff win last Friday with a warm-up match at Rockwall-Heath, which they rallied to win in five sets: 26-24, 24-26, 17-25, 25-16 and 15-9.

Balido, Tyus and Goncalves each had 15 kills, Williams added 30 assists and 26 digs while Heigele tallied 16 helpers and 10 digs.
