Bishop Lynch High School recognized nine seniors — six players and three team managers — before sweeping Parish Episcopal on Tuesday to complete another undefeated run through district play.

The Lady Friars (34-8 overall, 16-0 district) put Parish away with ease, winning with scores of 25-15, 25-18 and 25-5.

Senior Francesca Goncalves led the BL attack with 13 kills while sophomore Madi tyus added seven. Melanie Heigele had a game-high 17 assists with another 15 from junior Callie Williams. The Lady Friars tallied nine service aces, with three by Goncalves and two apiece from Danielle NevittLauren Chester and Williams.

Nevitt also led the defensive effort with a game-high 12 digs, with Goncalves recording another 11.

The team honored seniors Nevitt, Chester and Goncalves along with Bitsy Root, Cat Balido, Elena Macaluso and team managers Reese Collum, Ericka Stephanian and Alex Acuna.

In addition to the district title, the Lady Friars earned a bye in tonight's opening round of the TAPPS 5A playoffs. Bishop Lynch will head into the regional championship round scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 7.

The time, location and opponent are not yet determined.
