Two more wins for the Lady Friars this week gave Bishop Lynch a regular season sweep of Ursuline, as well as the ladies' 30th win of the season as the playoffs near.

Bishop Lynch (30-8, 12-0) can clinch the district championship and a bye in the first round of the playoffs as early as Thursday, when the Lady Friars face Nolan Catholic.

This week started with a 3-1 win over rival Ursuline. After the upstart Bears took the first set, 25-22, BL responded with winning scores of 25-20, 25-14 and 25-23 to put the match in the book.

Francesca Goncalves led the attack with a team-high 17 kills, Cat Balido added 15 kills and Madi Tyus and Bri Kipp each added 10. Goncalves added four aces while Balido served three of her own. Callie Williams notched a game-high 31 assists and Melanie Heigeleadded 18.

Danielle Nevitt paced the team with 14 digs, Tyus had 13 and Williams added 11. Balido had a team-high three blocks.

Last night, the Lady Friars swept John Paul II by scores of 25-4, 25-16 and 25-22.

A balanced attack saw Tyus notch a team-high 10 kills, Balido added nine, Goncalves had eight and Kipp added six, as did freshman Lauryn Green. Williams (20) and Heigele (13) set up the majority of BL's points.

Tyus (10), Williams (8), Goncalves (8) and Nevitt (6) led the ladies in digs.

The junior varsity and freshman teams also swept John Paul II on Thursday.

Bishop Lynch will have an off date Tuesday before facing Nolan on the road Thursday at 6 p.m.
