Jermaine Mask scored three of his four touchdowns during Friday's first quarter, leading the Bishop Lynch Friars to a 55-13 homecoming win over John Paul II at Roffino Stadium.

Mask (124 yards, 4 TD rushing) scored on runs of 42, 3 and 22 yards in the opening period as the Friars (3-3 overall, 2-1 district) jumped out to a 27-6 halftime lead. The Cardinals (0-6, 0-3) remained winless.

Drayton Delaney led all receivers with 99 yards on seven catches, and hauled in a 10-yard touchdown reception in the second period. Tristan Smith and Mask each scored on 15-yard runs in the third period, giving the Friars a 41-6 lead, then Raymond Becerra and Thomas Martinez converted short runs for a pair of fourth-quarter touchdowns.

Smith passed for just 87 yards in the game, but ran for 105 as Bishop Lynch totaled 281 yards on the ground against an overmatched JPII defense.

Titus Beacham intercepted a pass for the defense and Davis Peck created problems for the Cardinals all night with a game-high 11 tackles. Alex Lara provided the offense with great field position, returning several kicks for long gains, including a punt return touchdown that was called back on a penalty.

The Friars will hit the road this Friday to take on Nolan Catholic (1-5, 1-2), which got into the win column for the first time last week, blanking Trinity Christian 41-0 on the road.

Kickoff from Doskocil Stadium is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. and the game can be watched live on Sportsgram.net.
