Women's college soccer scene full of former BL standouts

A total of 11 former soccer standouts from Bishop Lynch are on collegiate rosters for the 2016 season, with several playing significant roles for their squads.

The former Lady Friars come from four different graduating classes at BL, from 2013-2016, with five from the Class of 2015 and three from 2016.

Here's a breakdown of how the former Lady Friars are doing so far in 2016:

• Alisa Velasquez ('13) — Texas Woman's University

The senior forward and midfielder is the only Class of 2013 alum currently on a collegiate roster and has seen action in all four games for the 4-0 Pioneers.

• Allison Ganter ('14) — Texas Christian University

The junior forward has helped the Frogs to their best start in school history (6-0-1) with four goals in two assists this season. Allison was a 2015 1st Team All-Academic selection by the Big 12 Conference and notched a hat trick on Sept. 4 in a 7-0 TCU win over Texas Southern.

• Hassie Wortham ('14) — Austin College

Hassie, a junior forward and midfielder, is in her third season for the Roos. Austin College is off to a 1-3 start this season.

• Eva Gonzalez ('15) — Seton Hall University

Now a sophomore midfielder for the Pirates, Eva was a Big East All-Freshman Team selection last year. This season she received a redshirt in order to train with the Mexico National Team in preparation for the Women's World Cup.

• Jamie Jeffrey ('15) — University of Tulsa

Redshirted in her freshman year, Jamie has seen action in three games this season for the 3-4-1 Hurricane. Jamie is a forward and midfielder for Tulsa.

• Natalie McDonough ('15) — University of Missouri

The former two-time District MVP at BL saw action in 12 games as a freshman for Mizzou, and has played in two games this season for the 5-2 Tigers.

• Erin Scott ('15) — Creighton University

This season, Erin is 1-1-1 in goal for the Bluejays, who are 4-1-2 this season. As a freshman, Erin started all 20 matches with six shutouts and made 108 saves, the second-most in school history.

• Kaycie Tillman ('15) — Florida State University

Now a sophomore midfielder for the #1 team in the nation, Kaycie was chosen for the ACC All-Freshman Team in 2015, starting all 25 games and registering eight assists and four goals. This season, she has a goal and two assists for the 5-1 Seminoles.

• Katelyn Curtis ('16) — Rhodes College

Just three games into her freshman year, Katelyn has already made her presence felt for the 1-2 Lynx, scoring two goals in a 6-0 win on Sept. 9 and playing 63 minutes as a starter in the season opener.

• Mica MacKay ('16) — Jacksonville University

The freshman goalkeeper has seen action in three games for the 2-5 Dolphins, making five saves during that span.

• Atu Mshana ('16) — University of Texas

Last year's District MVP was a top scorer for BL but has shifted to defense for the 4-3 Longhorns. Atu has started all seven games and had an assist in their latest contest.
