Lakehill's Jakayla Silas set 5-year scoring record
The Lakehill Prep Middle School boys and girls teams were both in action on Friday night. The boys played a double-header: taking on Cambridge in a 4:00 p. m. IAA league game, and playing again against Desoto Canterbury at 6:00 p.m. The Warriors beat Cambridge 46-29, getting a balanced contribution from all ten players. The win pulls Lakehill to 1-1 in the league standings.

In the second game against Desoto Canterbury, the Warriors used a relentless full-court press to jump to a 34-2 lead after the first quarter on the way to a 63-25 victory. Seventh grader Westley Giadolor put on an incredible shooting display, with 18 points in the first quarter and 25 for the game. Solid efforts at both ends were turned in by eighth graders Gerard Franklin, Trey Reed, Jonathan Kelley, Toni Stark-Perez, and Warren Lester.

The Lady Warriors squared off against Desoto Canterbury in a non-league game. Utilizing a quick 14-0 start, Lakehill raced to a 57-9 victory. Eighth-graders Jakayla Silas and Mandy Scales led the scoring with 30 points and 16 points, respectively. Silas's 30 point outburst was the most points in a game by a Middle School girl in the last five years. Seventh graders Tyler McCall, Leah Hawthorne, and Georgia Ferguson contributed valuable minutes on the court.
