Friday night was cause for a celebration of fun, food, and football. This special evening included the third annual Dad's Club Chili Cook-Off, sponsored by Comerica Bank.

Lakehill's top chefs battled it out to be the Grand Champion of Chili in a fiery match-up before the Varsity game. The iron chefs threw their proverbial hats in the ring in a contest as varied as the meats used in their recipes.

Supporters sampled the tasty bowls and cast their votes for their favorites. Rick Currey gathered enough votes to take home the People's Choice Award for his "Ghost Chili." The team of expert judges, including Lakehill Headmaster Roger Perry; Jim Weber, Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer of Comerica Bank; Brian Kern, Assistant Vice-President and Banking Center Manager of Comerica Bank Mockingbird-Abrams; and seventh grader Luke Jerome, who purchased the coveted spot in a judge's chair at the Lakehill Benefit Auction, savored and evaluated each entry, naming the team of Cliff Welch and Rocky Owens as the Grand Champions of Chili for the RockCliff Slaughterhouse Chili.

"I was really surprised by all the tastes and textures of the chili," said Jerome. "The chili was good. I tried all the entries last year, and thought this year's entries were even better. I am glad I got to be a judge, and would like to do it again next year!"
