Several weeks ago, Lakewood Elementary School principal Michelle Thompson resigned from her post to accept the position of principal of W.T. White High School. The void left by her departure has now been filled, and Lakewood Elementary is ready for the new school year.

The school is happy to officially welcome Kaye Brookshire as the new principal of Lakewood Elementary School. Brookshire is entering her 14th year as an educator and served just about every role available at a school - teacher, instructional coach, academic coordinator and administrator.

She graduated Summa Cum Laude from Texas Woman's University and she hold a master's degree in Educational Administration from the University of North Texas. She was a fellow in the Aspiring Principals Program Cohort I through the Dallas Leadership Academy and an adjunct member of the faculty of UT Austin from the UTCULP Cognitive Coaching Program in DISD.
