Common Desk, a growing Dallas-based coworking and office amenities provider, today has acquired The Gym of Social Mechanics, expanding Common Desk’s portfolio and its branded suite of amenities.

“We’re continuing to find new ways to expand the offering for our members and make the locations we serve more engaging. The Social Mechanics brand aligns well with us on all fronts, so acquiring it was a natural fit,” said Common Desk Founder and CEO Nick Clark. “We’re focused on being an ‘experience provider’, improving productivity at work as well as each member’s well-being – our newest acquisition will create a well-rounded experience in our members’ work week.”

Social Mechanics, located in East Dallas on Lower Greenville, uses a functional strength and conditioning program incorporating foundational lifts, body weight movements, yoga and cardio to make guests feel better no matter what their lives demands.

Cristen Trousdale will continue to serve as the gym’s General Manager. She founded the facility in 2013 with a passion for building community around a fun fitness environment. She continues to be the cornerstone of the location with her members wearing shirts that read, “Body by Cristen”. The Greenville Ave location will get a slight makeover with Common Desk’s new ownership, but will continue to offer the same level of service and programming for the East Dallas community.

Common Desk members will now enjoy both discounted monthly memberships and drop-in rates to Social Mechanics.

Common Desk will begin incorporating Social Mechanics into its expansion plan. The Social Mechanics brand will soon accompany Common Desk in a few of its newest locations offering functional fitness, yoga, spin and other wellness classes to all occupants of the buildings it serves. This offering will now give landlords a choice to either build out a full-service gym or simply provide a curriculum of wellness classes to tenants.

Social Mechanics is open daily, offering instructor-led classes throughout the day and open gym once a week.

Common Desk’s portfolio offers additional amenities and member discounts including the full-service coffee shop, Fiction Coffee, which includes an experiential and innovative menu of drinks called the “Fictional Menu.” Common Desk is continuing to build upon its portfolio of brands that are focused on enhancing every work day in environments driven by southern hospitality. The brand turns six in October and currently operates four coworking locations throughout North Texas, covering 70,000 square feet of space with more openings slated for late 2018/early 2019.
